Overview of Pricing setup
The price that will automatically
be computed when a purchase is made, is based on a combination of the
Customer and the Commodity. To find the price, the system looks in each
of the price lists that the customer belongs to until it finds the commodity.
Once your price lists are setup, you are ready to associate the commodities
and price lists and specify what prices you will pay for each commodity/price
list combination.
Associating commodities & price lists
Once
you have entered all your lists you need to associate the commodities
and price lists and specify the price for each combination. You have
two options for making these assignments. You can either:
1. Select the price list and add the commodities, or
2. Select the commodity and add the price lists.
Method 1- Select the price list and add the
commodities
From the Master
Files menu, select Pricing; Price
Lists.

Click on the Price list desired and
press the Edit Commodities & Prices button

This screen shows items in the Level One list. The buying price for commodity
#2 Copper will be increased by 10% (Scale price multiplied by 1.100) for
all customers who are assigned to this list. You have a number of different
ways of calculating a commodity list price. You may add to (+), subtract
from (-), or multiply (*) the scale price or you may have a price equal
to a price specified in the 'Amount' field.
Click the 'Add'
button. Select the commodity you wish to add to this list. Choose the
formula you wish to apply to the scale price and enter it under the '+-*='
and the 'Amount' field. You can specify the beginning and/or ending dates.
When all of the commodities have
been added and priced for this list, press the Exit button to return to
the Price list Master screen and select the next list. Continue until
all of the lists have the desired commodities added and priced.
Method 2 - Select
the Commodity and add the Price lists
From the Master
Files menu, select Pricing; Commodity
Pricing.

This is the inverse process
to method 1 but it works in exactly the same way. Simply add and price
the lists that contain this commodity. In the above example, we are setting
the price for #1 Copper for the different lists. The scale price is $0.560
per pound. Level One will get $0.570 per pound. The operators (+-*=) work
exactly the same as for the Commodity Price lists above.
You may use either method to link
and price the commodities into lists.
