Local Computer Options
Some setup is required on each
local computer. Various options are specified for each computer workstation.
This is done in Back Office; Maintenance; Setup;
Local Computer Options. On the Modules
tab, you will designate which modules are enabled on this workstation.
For each computer that will be using the Scrap Buying module, a default
scrap buying menu must be selected. Additional options for this module
include PopUp Scale Pricing, number of decimal places for pop-up pricing,
license display and timeout.

The license display option provides confirmation that the correct customer
has been selected at the scale by displaying a previously scanned driver's
license, as the screen below illustrates:
Use 'Pop Up' scale pricing: The pop
up prices are prices that you can set to pop up on the scale operators
screen while a ticket is in process. The pop up screen will show you all
the price lists that the customer belongs to that have the commodity being
weighed; it will show you the screen price and it will show you all the
price lists which have 'Global Price
Lists' checked on them when you set up the commodity price lists.
The screen below is 'popping up' the available prices for the commodity
'Baling Scrap'.

Setting up Scale Button Defaults
Any peripherals that will
be used by the Scrap Buying module need to be configured on the Peripherals
tab in the Local Computer Options. You must
specify the button labels which will appear on the left and right scale
buttons. The scale operation can be configured to permit or restrict manual
weight entry and to require rounding of weights.

The left and right button labels
are simply descriptions that appear on the Weighing screen as in the example
below.

The 'Left Scale Program to Run'
and the 'Right Scale Program to Run' are programs which will be determined
by what make of scale you have and what the requirements are specifically
for that scale. Support will either set these up for you or instruct you
how to set them up.
The Manual Weight Entry gives you
three options:
A- Always allow manual entry.
The operator may add to the weight or key in the weight whenever he feels
it is necessary.
N - A manual weight
entry is allowed only when there is no response from the scale - it is
unplugged or has some technical difficulties
0 - A manual weight
entry is allowed only when there is no 'steady scale' weight - the system
cannot get numerous readings at the same weight. This may happen when
there is movement on the scale or a technical difficulty.
All manual weight entries are logged with the ticket detals for security
reasons. If you do allow manual overrides, everytime an operator overrides
the scale price, the transaction is logged with the operator number and
the automatic scale weight. You are encouraged to check the weight override
report.
