Overview
This module is designed to weigh and price commodities, and to then print out a ticket for the customer. The Demo software is setup with FERROUS menus. The system has different menus (also user defined) for purchasing nonferrous metals.

A customer will come to the yard and weigh in at the ferrous scale. The operator will select a customer from a list to open a New Ticket. He will also enter the type of commodity being brought in, and the weight of the vehicle (Gross weight). Then the customer will proceed into the yard to unload his scrap metal, and the operator will put the ticket on hold. At this time, the operator can weigh in the next customer.

When a customer has dropped off his load, he returns to the scale. The operator selects the customer from the list of customers on hold (i.e. customers currently in the yard). The ticket information is displayed, and the operator takes the weight of the vehicle again (Tare weight) and keys in any deductions, price adjustments or VIN numbers. The computer then calculates the weight of the load, and the amount due to the customer and then prints out a ticket. The customer can then take the ticket to a cashier to be paid out. The system also supports cash payments from an ATM system

Modules
From the Main Menu select the Scrap Buying module.

This is the scale operators main scrap buying screen which he will use to initiate all of the functions that he can perform.

From the main buying screen, the scale operator can start new tickets or view tickets in process.

Start a New Ticket
The operator may choose to do a Quick ticket or a Customer Ticket. What's the difference between the two?

The Quick Ticket is used for a one-time customer. Quick tickets do not permit individual customer pricing and reporting.

Procedure for starting a Quick ticket

A Customer Ticket requires the operator to select a customer (or the operator may add a new customer on the fly). Use of the Customer Ticket allows the system to compute a customer-specific automatic price and to maintain a purchase history for the customer.

View Tickets in Process
There are three view ticket lists available on the Main Scrap Buying screen: View Held, View Closed & View Paid.

The View Held button is used to retrieve tickets that have been weighed in and placed on hold for subsequent weighing & processing. At a typical ferrous scale this list would be accessed frequently but at a typical nonferrous scale it would be only used occasionally.

 Procedure for retrieving held tickets

The View Closed button is used to retrieve tickets that have already been closed and are awaiting payment. Using this button, tickets can be retrieved and corrected until they are actually paid.

Procedure for retrieving closed tickets

The View Paid button is used to view tickets that have already been paid. No corrections can be made at the scale to tickets that have already been paid.
